Good Time Gang (Ages 2-3½)

This all-time favorite activity-plus development based program includes activities such as free play, simple crafts, stories, games, and songs all centered around our weekly theme. Our program will focus on coordination, socialization, large muscle development, and just plain FUN! Children will do crafts that include paint and glue – please dress accordingly! Participants MUST be 2 years of age before the first day of class. A snack will be served. (This is a program in which parents drop off their children.) Maximum 12 participants per session. Rounded Minds - Sports Exploration (Ages 3-6)

This 5-week program is a great way for children to experience a variety of new games and activities in a format that is structured, engaging, and most of all... FUN! Rounded Minds prepares children for organized games without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Children will have an opportunity to explore a new sport each class (Soccer, Softball, Flag Football, Volley ball, Basketball), improve motor skills, and participate in fun games that will reinforce listening, teamwork, and the joy of being active! We focus on fundamental motor skills and coordination. This will provide them the confidence to participate in competitive sports as they grow older and at the same time they will be learning Spanish.

Rounded Minds – Soccer (Ages 3-6)

We introduce children to fundamental soccer principles, such as using their feet, dribbling, passing, ball control, and shooting by using creative games, positive reinforcement, and even songs. Our philosophy is ONE CHILD ONE BALL. Fun drills and games where your child always has a ball by his/her feet. There are no competitive games. They will have hundreds of touches on the ball each class that will help them to increase their ball control and accuracy. Children will learn the basic rules of the game while practicing sportsmanship and teamwork in this 6-week class. The curriculum is designed by Raul Cuñarro, founder of Rounded Minds™, Professional Soccer coach from Spain, currently working with the Des Moines Menace.

Challenge your creativity by learning new camera and photography techniques; understand your camera and all its settings; learn to read and interpret your surroundings in a new, exciting and creative way; and experience the joys of getting creative outdoors in new and inspiring locations.

Every Walking Photography Tour is designed to encourage people of all abilities and fitness levels to take better photos while experiencing the joys of being outdoors. The great thing about walking photography is that it can encompass as many skills and techniques as you wish. So whether you're into landscape, portrait, street, abstract, wildlife or just want to take better photos on holidays, photo walks will develop and hone the skills relevant to your interests. Participants need to bring their camera. Class meets at the Giovannetti Community Shelter covered patio. Instructor: Alex Lihs.

NEW! Babysitting Clinic (Ages 10 and up)

Participants will learn about the responsibilities of a babysitter, what employers expect, and how to care for infants and toddlers. There will also be guest speakers teaching on the subjects of age appropriate toys and activities, safety, and basic first aid and rescue breathing. All participants receive a book filled with information about childcare as well as a certificate of completion at the end of the course. Class taught in conjunction with ISU Extension and Outreach.

Martial Arts (Ages 8+)

Join Jim Douglas, 6th degree black belt and Master Instructor. Learn a traditional martial art that stresses self-defense, physical fitness, self-control and discipline. This is full martial arts incorporating principles from karate, hap ki do, tae kwon do and kempo. The program is for ages 8 and above and the techniques taught are adaptable to any age or physical level. This is what makes this program different from other martial arts programs! This is a year-round program and you may join anytime. Maximum 40 participants per month. First uniform is included.
